Pakistani Navy Hid in Fear During Operation Sindhur

Satellite images expose Pakistan, warships hidden near Iran

During the 1971 war, Pakistan’s Navy was so terrified of the Indian Navy’s “Operation Sindhur” that it fled from the battlefield and went into hiding. Satellite images revealed that the Pakistani Navy, instead of fighting back, withdrew to distant harbors near Iran to save itself. The images, now public, confirm India’s claims from that period.

Pakistan had long denied these facts, but the recent release of satellite images has proven that Pakistan’s Navy avoided direct confrontation with the Indian Navy and remained in hiding for weeks. Not only did India’s naval dominance choke Pakistan’s maritime operations, but it also completely cut off supplies to Karachi Port.

Karachi Naval Base Burned for Seven Days

The 1971 India–Pakistan war marked the first time India’s Navy launched a major offensive under Operation Trident and Operation Python. Using Osa-class missile boats (guided missile ships), the Indian Navy targeted Karachi’s naval facilities and destroyed fuel depots.
As a result, Karachi Harbor burned continuously for seven days.
India also used anti-ship missiles for the first time in that war. In the attacks on 4 and 8 December 1971, nearly half of Pakistan’s naval fleet was destroyed, along with Karachi’s oil supply facilities. Pakistan’s Navy was paralyzed and lost its ability to operate.

Pakistan’s Navy Went Missing

During this period, Pakistan’s Navy disappeared from the Arabian Sea. Its major warships were shifted away to the Persian Gulf, close to Iranian shores, in order to avoid India’s Osa missile boats. This withdrawal left Pakistan’s western seaboard completely exposed. Satellite evidence confirms that Pakistan’s main naval assets stayed hidden far from the war zone.

India’s Brilliant Strategies

India’s well-planned strategies forced Pakistan into a defensive position. The bold strikes on Karachi shattered Pakistani morale and created panic. The Indian Navy not only ensured maritime supremacy but also cut off Pakistan’s logistical support, paving the way for victory on both eastern and western fronts.

Mohsin Naqvi’s Statement

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made a controversial remark, saying:
“India sends shining marbles to us, and in return, our trucks are filled with stones.”

This statement drew attention, as it was seen as a reflection of Pakistan’s internal weakness and inability to stand against India’s economic and strategic superiority.

Fear Was Visible in Pakistan

According to defense experts, the satellite images clearly show Pakistan’s helplessness. If India had pushed further with its naval operations, Pakistan’s entire Navy could have been destroyed. Operation Sindhur and India’s missile attacks exposed the complete vulnerability of Pakistan’s defense system.
