President Murmu Confers Padma Awards on 65 Eminent Personalities

President Droupadi Murmu honoured 65 distinguished personalities with Padma Awards at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The awards recognised exceptional contributions in fields such as art, literature, education, science, engineering, public affairs, social work, medicine, trade, industry and sports.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several other dignitaries. The Padma Awards, among India’s highest civilian honours, are conferred every year in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

Among the prominent awardees were Japanese singer Akiko Yano, former hockey player Vijay Amritraj and artist Shibhu Soren. The report also mentioned that four foreign nationals were among those honoured, including two American citizens.

Akiko Yano was conferred the Padma Shri for her contribution to the field of art. The award recognised her role in promoting cultural expression and strengthening India’s artistic engagement at the international level.

Former Indian tennis player Vijay Amritraj was honoured with the Padma Bhushan. His contribution to Indian sports, particularly tennis, has been widely recognised both in India and abroad. Through his sporting achievements and public work, he has remained one of India’s most respected sports personalities.

Shibhu Soren was also among the awardees honoured during the ceremony. The recognition acknowledged his contribution and public service.

Four Foreign Citizens Among Awardees

The Padma Awards ceremony also highlighted India’s recognition of global contributions. Among the awardees were four foreign nationals, including two American citizens. Their work in different fields was acknowledged as part of India’s effort to honour service, knowledge, culture and public contribution beyond national boundaries.
