Registration to Become Mandatory for Tourists Visiting Mussoorie
The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB), following the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), has announced that tourists visiting Mussoorie will now be required to register before entering the hill station. This measure aims to regulate tourist inflow, ease traffic congestion, and enable better management of crowd density.
A special online registration portal is being developed for this purpose. Tourists will need to complete the registration process before arriving in Mussoorie. The portal will provide real-time data on the number of tourists and the status of traffic in the region. This information will assist local authorities in implementing effective crowd control and traffic management strategies.
The registration process will be Aadhaar-based. Tourists will be required to provide their mobile number, after which they will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) to complete the registration. Upon successful registration, a secure QR code will be issued, which tourists must present upon arrival.
Officials stated that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to monitor the tourist footfall in Mussoorie, ensure smooth management, and prevent overcrowding during peak seasons. Secretary of the Tourism Department, Dheeraj Singh Gabral, mentioned that demand for better crowd management in Mussoorie has been increasing, and the system will be launched soon to address this concern.
Once operational, the registration system will allow tourists to easily plan their visits, avoid unnecessary delays, and enjoy a safer, more organized travel experience.
