500 Years of Ram Mandir Struggle Documented in New Historical Volume
A monumental text chronicling 500 years of struggle for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has been completed and will soon be shared widely with the public. The two-volume work, titled Shri Ramlalla Man Se Mandir Tak, compiles detailed accounts of the temple movement, landmark legal battles, and the nationwide campaign for Ram Janmabhoomi.
Prepared over nearly seven years, the book is written in Hindi and spans 1,250 pages. An English translation is also underway. The Ramayana Research Council coordinated its production, aiming to have the work inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The project began in 2018, a year before the historic 2019 Supreme Court verdict that cleared the way for construction. A 27-member team of historians, religious scholars, and cultural experts contributed to the compilation.
According to Kumar Sushil, Secretary of the Ramayana Research Council, the text traces the ideological, cultural, and legal facets of the movement in an effort to make this history accessible to a new generation.
“This is not merely a record of events,” he explained. “It also reflects the social, political, and spiritual resolve that sustained the movement over centuries.”
An e-book version has also been prepared to help younger readers and global audiences engage with the content.
The volumes include rare historical documents, eyewitness accounts, and references to the Supreme Court’s final judgment. Chapters explore the cultural significance of the Ram temple, its role in national identity, and the philosophical inspirations behind the movement.
Translations into multiple Indian and international languages are planned to ensure that people in other countries connected with the Ram tradition can also access the work.
