Vinesh Phogat’s Wrestling Comeback Marred by Controversy, Legal Battles and Selection Trial Heartbreak

Indian wrestling star Vinesh Phogat returned to competitive wrestling with the aim of securing a place in India's squad for the 2026 Asian Games. However, her comeback became the centre of a prolonged dispute involving the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), legal interventions, and intense competition on the mat.

 

The celebrated wrestler's return came after months away from competitive action and followed a series of disagreements regarding her eligibility and participation in the Asian Games selection trials.
